BUNRAKU-STYLE PUPPETRY
Students learning to animate paper practice puppets in the style of Bunraku puppetry, in which three puppeteers animate one puppet. It takes intense concentration, cooperation, and breathing together in ensemble.
TWISTED RED RIDING HOOD
A project created by a class of fourth-graders. They wrote the script, built and animated the shadow puppets, and composed and performed the music.
WAYANG KULIT
High school students creating their shadow puppetry project with original shadow puppets, storytelling, and musical accompaniment. Puppets are not just for younger children!
THE STONECUTTER
"The Stonecutter" is based on a Japanese folktale. This particular work combines narration, masks, movement, projected shadow puppetry, and original live music. The students built all the puppets and masks and composed the music.
