Example of a cloth needle-sculpted tabletop puppet I built. Animation of the puppet is through direct manipulation.
BROWN BABY
A piece incorporating shadow puppetry with a crankie, a moving panorama "cranked" by hand. I built the crankie, illustrated the crankie scroll using colored pencils, and created and animated the shadow puppets in the performance.
INDONESIAN WAYANG KULIT
I created this instructional piece on Indonesian shadow puppetry for the Virtual Puppet Con Festival in 2020. It combines the puppetry forms of tabletop, shadow, and crankie.
MOMENTS OF WONDER
A piece of Teatro Lambe Lambe, a puppetry form originating in Brazil. It is purposely miniature in scale (contained in a small enclosure), intended to be viewed one person at a time. I built this piece with a cardboard box and miniature lights that I wired within the box.
